lessons. Has anyone experienced what was commonly termed as ‘déjà vu’? Ah,
that’s right, it is that intriguing feeling of ‘it seems that I have already experienced
this kind of thing’...
...It is very possible that there is that kind of signal.” Lesson 22 - The 100th Graduation
Ceremony. It is the 51th graduation ceremony of XX junior high. The teacher
tells everyone that they are about to graduate so congratulations.
“After you guys go to high school, don’t forget to meet
together once in a while.” A lame looking girl walks behind a couple of girls
at the hallway. The girls say that today is their last day and their class is
not bad since everyone got along well.
The lame looking girl become tense when the two girls say,
“But it seems that Maibi [guesswork from 每美]
has something that she hasn’t done yet.” Holding up her hands, Maibi says
forget about her, just spare her already.
Her friends tell her to be quickly since Tadato [guesswork
from 唯人] is coming over
that side. Maibi blushes upon seeing a handsome boy. They push her towards
Tadato and tell her to ask for the second button and come back. [<- second
button = closest to one’s heart; token of love]
Maibi thinks that it is love at first sight when she entered
first year junior high. “But then, in these three years, I can only dare to
watch him from afar... *puzzled* ...ah, it seems that this kind of situation
has happened before...
...It quite a familiar feeling... Impossible. Impossible.
This is the first time I participated in a junior high graduation ceremony. What
am I foolishly thinking of...” Then, Tadato’s friend tells him that they go
home. Maibi groans for she wasn’t able to call out to Tadato.
While her friends sweatdrop, Maibi gloomily thinks that it
really ends this way. Goodbye to everyone... Goodbye to my years of junior
high...” The next day, Maibi calls out to her to wake up because today’s the
graduation ceremony and she’ll be late. Maibi says ya.
While dressing up in her uniform, Maibi yawns and thinks
that it seems that she was woke up like this by her mother yesterday. “Did I
remember it wrong?” Then, at school, her friends tell her that it seems that
she forgot to do something.
Maibi blushes and tells them to forget about her, just spare
her already. Then, she wonders, it seems that this kind of situation has happened
before. Then, to her and her friends’ shock, a guy tells Tadato that they’re
going home.
The next day, Maibi’s mother calls out to her to wake up
because today’s the graduation ceremony and she’ll be late. Maibi thinks, “Wait
a minute... Eh? Eh? I...Am I always repeatedly going to the graduation ceremony
over and over!?”
Her friends tell her that it seems that she forgot to do
something. Maibi thinks ah...ah... She nervously thinks that could this be the
déjà vu that others say...This day would constantly keep on repeating? Why did
this kind of thing happen...”
Her friends tell her to be quick since Tadato is over there.
Maibi wonders if this is an opportunity given by the gods to the useless her...
Then, Tadato’s friend tells him that they’re going home. Maibi looks flustered.
To her friend’s surprise, Maibi runs after Tadato.
She thinks that this is the third time already so she cannot
let this opportunity go to waste... At the corner, Maibi sees Tadato with a
girl and his friend from a while ago. Tadato’s friend asks if he wants to go
home with his girlfriend. Tadato says no because she still has club activity.
Maibi is stunned to see Tadato happily talking with his
girlfriend. Maibi thinks, “Girlfriend?” Lying down on her bed, Maibi tearfully thinks
that she’s quite an idiot to think that this is an opportunity given to her by
the gods because she doesn’t want to know this truth...
The next day, her mother tells her to quickly get up or
she’ll be late for the graduation ceremony. Maibi looks glum as she thinks that,
for this day to keep on repeating every day is quite unbearable and what’s the
meaning of it... “It’s always going to be graduation ceremony day.”
Then, she decides to go to a karaoke bar. She thinks that
she had skipped class and it is the first time she did this in her whole life!
<- got an award for full attendance at school. She thinks that even if time
goes back to normal tomorrow, at most, she’ll be treated by others as someone
who usually skipped class.
“Forget it. I don’t care. There will always be a way!!” She
wakes up again and her mother tells her to wake up because today’s the graduation
ceremony. She thinks that it is good that she slipped out to have fun. “I can
be at ease and just have fun!!”
At the karaoke bar, while getting some drinks, a couple of
guys ask if she is a junior high student and does she want to sing with them?
Thinking that they are high school students, Maibi declines and says that she’s
fine by her own.
The next day, her mother tells her to wake up because today’s
the graduation ceremony. Maibi blushes for she has been flirted on and it is
the first time she encountered this kind of thing. At the karaoke bar, the two
guys ask her if she’s a junior high student and if she wants to sing with them.
They tell her that they saw her always looking at their
direction. She thinks that in case she discovers that she didn’t like it,
she’ll just quickly run away. She tells them that she’ll sing one song...
The next day, her mother tells slightly irked Maibi to wake
up because today’s the graduation ceremony. The high school guy tells Maibi
that she’s so stiff while singing so is she very nervous. The next day, her
mother tells slightly smiling Maibi to wake up because today’s the graduation
ceremony.
The high school guy says that she can really sing, not bad
at all. The next day, her mother tells happy confident Maibi to wake up because
today’s the graduation ceremony. The high school guy says that she is really
engrossed [in singing] and is it really the first time they’ve met?
Soon, Maibi is crossing her legs. The high school guy
nervously laughs and says that they met for the first time yet he was flirt on
by a junior high student. “Maibi-chan, where are you from?”
While painting her nails with polish, Maibi thinks that even
today, she had already skip class for so many months yet it is getting tiring
to play with these guys so she’ll go and check out the graduation ceremony
after such a long time already.
In school, her friends say that this is the last day and
their class is not bad since everyone got along. They say that it seems that
there is still something that Maibi hasn’t done... With make-up and set hair,
Maibi giggles and says that’s right so she’ll go there then come back here. Her
friends are all puzzled by her.
At the side, Tadato’s friend asks him if he wants to go home
with his girlfriend. Just when Tadato is saying no, she has... They were
interrupted by Maibi who asks if she can talk with Tadato for a while. Tadato
asks if she is Maibi... The girlfriend says, can..can I ask...
Maibi tells the girlfriend that she has business with Tadato
so can she leave for a while. Tadato is surprised by that. Near the stairs, Tadato
asks what she wants to talk about with him. Maibi thinks that it’s quite
nostalgic and it turns out that Tadato’s impression is of such a juvenile
person.
She smiles and thinks that he’s still very cute... “But it
is alright. What I want is...” She suddenly grabs him and kisses him on the
lips. Tadato manages to push her away. He shouts what she is suddenly doing.
Maibi asks why he is having such a huge fuss over it. “Could
it be that it’s your first kiss?” Tadato nervously asks what’s up with her.
“Are you really Maibi? That girl who is always reading books at the corner...”
Maibi laughs and asks what era was that and it’s so funny to
death! She pushes scared Tadato down on the floor. She starts to unbutton his
shirt. She thinks that anyway, everything will just start all over again
tomorrow.
“It would be better that I do what I please and do what I
want to do. There’s nothing to lose!!” With a crazed look, Maibi shouts that
she was always been secretly in love with him. “Do you know that!?” Aghast
Tadato shouts that she is disgusting to death. He pushes her away and shouts
that she’s sick!!
Maibi falls down on the floor. Scared Tadato quickly makes a
run for it. Irked Maibi chases after him. She thinks that in the end, this is
an opportunity given to her by the gods. “Now, I can finally reveal my
feelings.”
Just when she is reaching out for him, Tadato slips on the
stairs and he falls down. Maibi is shock to see unconscious Tadato’s head
bleeding. She quickly runs away and thinks that she messed up. “I’ll wait and
do it again tomorrow and I’ll definitely succeed!! Tomorrow again--...”
The next day, Maibi goes into the kitchen and greets her
mother a good morning. Her mother says that she woke up very early today. Preparing
to sit on the chair, Maibi thinks that in a while, what is she to do to be able
to settle things with Tadato...
Then, her mother asks how come she is wearing that uniform.
“Graduation ceremony is already over yesterday. Are you confused?” Maibi is
stunned as she asks what...? Her mother says that she has to wake up her
father. Maibi thinks that graduation ceremony is already over yesterday...?
“Then... Today is...”
On the news, with a title ‘Accident!?’, the reporter says
that there is news about yesterday at 00 district at 00 junior high school
wherein they found a fallen student lying on a pool of blood...
...Based on the image on the surveillance camera, the police
are currently focusing their attention on this suspiciously acting female
student.” There is an image of Maibi frantically running away.
Cli-clank. Messy haired Maibi is locked up in jail. A guard
says, “Did you hear? That junior high student is always saying out loud that
she is already tired of this jail and wants to go out already...
She even said that she is tired of eating the food. She’s
noisy to death...” The other guard says, “Eh...that’s quite strange. She was
obviously just brought here today...”
Yumi narrates: “‘Always wanting to express one’s feelings to
a guy whom she desires’, the moment the girl brought about her desire, time had
moved once again. But it is only for one day...
...Everyone...in case you also wanted to experience déjà vu,
it might perhaps satisfy you... Hi hi, this lesson is up to here. See you again

Comment: This is
like the movie Ground Hog’s Day. I like the ending twist though. When the
mother said that graduation ceremony is over, my reaction is pretty much like
Maibi. She reminds me of someone who has always been ‘good’ and just when she
decides to do something ‘bad’, that is when she got caught.
From the ending, it seems that she has some psychological
issue wherein she’ll keep on repeating a situation in her mind. I wonder if
they’ll let her off for insanity. Actually, what happened was an accident.
